Yes—there's an example in this repo: TestServerWithHosting. It uses stdio and registers an Echo tool. Its project uses DefaultTestTargetFrameworks, which includes net472 on Windows.

Both ModelContextProtocol and ModelContextProtocol.Core ship netstandard2.0 builds that can be used from .NET Framework 4.7.2.

That doesn't mean every hosting option is available: ModelContextProtocol.AspNetCore targets modern .NET, so the provided ASP.NET Core HTTP server host can't run directly in a net472 app.

I checked the sample and project targets, but haven't run it on Windows myself.
