Off-grid, low power, Open Source mesh communication.
When you go Out, be sure to make it Back. Out and Back builds open, affordable tools for staying connected and protected where there's no cellular or Internet — a community-powered mesh, and real hardware you can build today.
- Easy to use — flash it, power it, done. No accounts, no subscriptions, no cloud dependency.
- Awesome technology — built on best-in-class open tech like LoRa mesh networking, ESP32 microcontrollers, and MQTT.
- Super flexible — designed from the ground up to be extended: mix sensors, radios, and alert channels to fit your site.
- Affordable — built from low-cost, off-the-shelf hardware, so anyone can afford to deploy it.
Off-grid-first tripwire sensors for remote properties. Distributed sensors detect nearby WiFi/BLE devices and feed them to a Raspberry Pi base station that filters, logs, and alerts on unknown devices. Everything runs over WiFi/MQTT by default; an optional LoRa mesh extends sensors and alerts off-grid where there's no Internet or WiFi.
SENSE → RELAY → FILTER & LOG → ALERT — ESP32 WiFi/BLE sniffers, vehicle magnetometer, vibration and contact sensors, relayed over WiFi/MQTT or LoRa mesh to a Pi base station with a built-in offline dashboard, alerting via ntfy, webhook, or SMS.
