Summary

Vision — automated project maintainer.

Prepare additive 0.5.0 distribution of the independently verified Python 3.15 documentation target merged in #158. Refs #156.

Scope and acceptance

  • Only project/lock/manifest versions and changelog metadata changed; no dependency refresh, runtime code, tests, workflow, schema or frozen benchmark changes.
  • 0.4.0 history heading dated to its actual 2026-10-19 publication; prior dated history preserved.
  • Fresh independent prepublication review: pdctl publish exited 0 on 2026-10-20T02:52:09Z and published exact head 59aab88. Tree a342227ddadd66a7c4b177d22440aa933103d9a5 matches the retained candidate; parent is current main e4f8b71. The broker success response exposes ref/SHA, not the verifier transcript; no individual unseen command result is claimed.
  • Exact published-head/current-main independent verification and hosted CI/security.
  • SHA-matched merge, resulting-main checks and immutable release gates.
  • PyPI, MCP Registry, GitHub artifacts/hash consistency and clean-install proof after publication.

Why this approach

Ship already merged opt-in canonical 3.15 documentation support without waiting for unrelated roadmap work. The target remains opt-in; no runtime Python 3.15 or named-client compatibility claim is made. MCP v2 remains a separate deliberate migration.

Evidence and limitations

The prior prepublication review was rejected because of a verifier-authored changelog classification assertion. The historical rejection is retained. Independently reviewed verifier-preparation repair 6d297e339c4e690277c4eb1c8764893dde246d0f was installed and live-proved by the authorized operator; that capability repair is not product acceptance. A fresh review succeeded against the unchanged candidate tree a342227ddadd66a7c4b177d22440aa933103d9a5 and main e4f8b71.

Developer evidence: 645 tests and 4 installed-wheel stdio tests passed on the initial metadata head; final documentation-link correction had exact byte/tree checks, not a fresh full suite. Fresh independent evidence controls publication. CPython source is pinned; live objects.inv inventory is not. Automated protocol smoke does not establish named-client behavior.

Supervisor review

Vision explicitly authorized the four-file release metadata scope and dating of the actually published 0.4.0 heading. No other historical changelog rewrite or forbidden-path change is authorized.

Review triage

CodeRabbit: both bot reviews were skipped because the author is a bot; no acceptance claim is made from them. At 2026-10-20 final cycle inspection, zero submitted reviews, zero inline review comments and zero review threads were returned. Independent verification remains mandatory; refresh feedback immediately before merge.

Outcome review: 2026-10-21; revisit on any regression, changed main/head, metadata discrepancy or failed release gate.

Separate exact-head/current-main verification is scheduled for the next existing full-budget owner cycle (2026-10-20 04:17 UTC). It was not started late in this cycle; no merge or release approval is implied.

Hosted checks at cycle checkpoint: 10 successful; pending: Product regression; observed failed/non-success completed: none. The separate Independent verification App gate is not yet run.

Release checkpoint: the separate exact-head verification of 59aab88a640bdf995e358431698f7781a6571252 against main e4f8b717d8b0c14c68fd3069efc64330985ab0e1 was rejected. Verifier check. All 11 external hosted checks passed, but that does not replace independent approval.

The bounded review diagnostics identify two verifier-authored assertion failures (counting the build directory's ancillary .gitignore as a distribution artifact, and shadowing Python's all) plus incomplete final per-command evidence. No package defect was established by those findings; the failed review remains authoritative. A scoped infrastructure/evidence repair has been requested through the existing maintenance lane. Queue admission is not a repair.

No merge or 0.5.0 publication occurred. This exact candidate is retained unchanged; there will be no identical retry or circuit bypass. Next gate: authentic failure evidence, independently reviewed effective preparation/evidence repair and separately governed review admission, followed by a fresh full-budget exact-head/current-main review. Metadata merge, resulting-main CI and registry/artifact/clean-install proofs remain required. CodeRabbit skipped the bot-authored PR; that supplementary review is not claimed as a pass.

Recovery checkpoint: the independently reviewed verifier repair was installed, and a separately admitted fresh review of the unchanged head 59aab88a640bdf995e358431698f7781a6571252 against main e4f8b717d8b0c14c68fd3069efc64330985ab0e1 actually ran. It ended with an infrastructure failure: invalid_response_or_execution_error. This is not product acceptance or a diagnosed package defect. The original two rejected reviews remain recorded; the recovery admission is consumed.

Current main still has 11 successful checks; this PR has 11 successful external checks and its previous failed independent-verification check. No unresolved review threads were returned. CodeRabbit skipped review, which is not an approval.

The existing internal maintenance lane has a scoped request to recover authentic response/execution evidence and diagnose the failure before any independently reviewed capability repair or separately governed new admission. A queued request is not a repair. There will be no unchanged retry, counter reset, or candidate change to evade the gate.

0.5.0 remains prepared, not merged or published. After recovery, a fresh separate exact-head/current-main verifier App success, hosted gates, matched merge, resulting-main CI, and registry/artifact/clean-install proofs are still required.

The separately admitted recovery review of unchanged head 59aab88a640bdf995e358431698f7781a6571252 against main e4f8b717d8b0c14c68fd3069efc64330985ab0e1 has now passed independent local review. The broker returned approved: true, no blockers, and 54 recorded commands with exit code 0. Fresh locked checks, package build and isolated-wheel smoke, a full official documentation index covering Python 3.10–3.15, the 65-case offline regression, explicit installed-wheel Python 3.15 offline queries, and artifact byte comparisons passed.

This resolves the recovery operation; it does not replace the separate published-head/current-main verifier App gate. That App check is still the previous failure. Historical rejected reviews and infrastructure evidence remain retained, not retroactively approved. Main and this PR still have 11 successful external checks each, with no unresolved review threads. CodeRabbit remains skipped, not approval.

Next: the existing 10:17 UTC owner cycle will refresh identities and run the separate exact-head verification with its full review budget. Then, only after success, matched merge, resulting-main CI, and release eligibility may immutable 0.5.0 publication proceed. Registry/artifact/clean-install proofs remain mandatory. 0.5.0 is not merged or published.

The separate published-head/current-main review has completed with rejection, not approval: verifier App check. Exact head 59aab88a640bdf995e358431698f7781a6571252 and main e4f8b717d8b0c14c68fd3069efc64330985ab0e1 remain unchanged. The broker command exited 0 because it returned the check result; the actual check conclusion is failure.

The reviewer reported successful scoped metadata review, locked sync/lint/types, 644 tests, corpus validation and build. It also recorded a verifier-authored corpus-inspection command exiting 1 because its path repeated repo/ while already running inside the repository. A corrected probe does not erase that failure. The required fresh full-index regression, explicit Python 3.15 offline proof and separate installed-wheel/network-denial checks were not completed in this review. Earlier local recovery approval and the 11 successful external PR checks cannot substitute for those gates.

The existing internal maintenance lane has one exact-incident request to recover original evidence, diagnose path handling and the incomplete review, and provide any necessary independently reviewed effective capability repair and separately governed admission. Queue acceptance is not repair. Historical failures and consumed admissions remain retained; the candidate is unchanged and will not be retried unchanged without an evidence-backed recovery basis.

No merge or 0.5.0 publication occurred. The next full-budget owner cycle must consume actual recovery evidence before any eligible new review. Required successful App verification, matched merge, resulting-main checks, immutable publication and registry/artifact/clean-install proofs remain outstanding. CodeRabbit is skipped, not approval.

The separately admitted recovery review completed with an infrastructure failure, not product acceptance. Exact head 59aab88a640bdf995e358431698f7781a6571252, current main e4f8b717d8b0c14c68fd3069efc64330985ab0e1 and candidate tree a342227ddadd66a7c4b177d22440aa933103d9a5 are unchanged.

Review 2817c810-1592-4813-af0b-004bfee2a818 ran for 1,583 seconds and returned command_evidence_assembly_failed (broker exit 1). The bounded diagnostic does not disclose the underlying assembly cause or establish individual product-gate results. The one-shot admission is consumed; all three recorded rejections and two infrastructure failures remain retained. This is not a product rejection diagnosis, a successful review, or a reason to retry unchanged content.

One deduplicated request is queued in the authorized internal maintenance lane for authentic bound evidence, a causal diagnosis, and any necessary independently reviewed effective correction. Queued is not repaired. Any new review admission must be separately governed; cooldown expiry alone is insufficient.

Final readback: all 11 external head checks and all 11 current-main checks are successful; the separate verifier App check remains failed. There are no unresolved review threads. No merge or 0.5.0 publication occurred. Required full-index/frozen-regression/explicit-3.15 offline/installed-wheel gates, successful exact-head/current-main App verification, matched merge, resulting-main CI, immutable publication and registry/artifact/clean-install proofs remain required.

Next existing full-budget owner cycle: 2026-10-20 14:17 UTC. It must consume actual repair and eligibility evidence before any review. Retained issue #34 work stays separate; no duplicate implementation or additional bundle is being accumulated at the blocked gate.

The scheduled governed recovery of this unchanged release candidate ended in an infrastructure failure, not product acceptance.

  • Head: 59aab88a640bdf995e358431698f7781a6571252; current main/base: e4f8b717d8b0c14c68fd3069efc64330985ab0e1; tree: a342227ddadd66a7c4b177d22440aa933103d9a5.
  • Fresh independent session 3ae89638-8c79-469b-9959-a7215aca50dc returned command_evidence_assembly_failed at 2026-10-20 18:44 UTC. The broker retains three rejected reviews and three infrastructure failures; prior admissions and failed evidence remain preserved.
  • All 11 external PR checks and 11 current-main checks pass. The required independent-verification App check still fails; this PR is unmerged. No individual acceptance-gate result is inferred from the assembly failure.
  • A deduplicated internal request for authentic command/custody diagnosis and independently verified capability repair is queued. Queued maintenance is not repair or new review admission. No unchanged retry or candidate change is planned.
  • Version 0.5.0 remains unpublished; GitHub, PyPI and MCP Registry still report 0.4.0. The next scheduled cycle will consume actual repair/admission evidence before any eligible fresh review. Exact-head/current-main verification, hosted checks, verified merge and immutable release proofs remain required.

The unchanged 0.5.0 release candidate received a fresh governed independent recovery review at 2026-10-20 22:22 UTC. It was rejected; 0.5.0 is not merged or published.

  • Head 59aab88a640bdf995e358431698f7781a6571252, base/current main e4f8b717d8b0c14c68fd3069efc64330985ab0e1, tree a342227ddadd66a7c4b177d22440aa933103d9a5.
  • Review 063a597e-959c-4012-9e00-a6c15610e44c confirmed the exact identities, four-file scope and actual 0.4.0 release date, then stopped on a verifier-authored changelog probe: re.error: unbalanced parenthesis at position 21.
  • Changelog-preservation assertions, canonical checks, fresh official-doc index, frozen regression, explicit Python 3.15 offline proof and installed-wheel network-denial/read-only checks were not completed. The probe failure is not evidence of a package defect or acceptance.
  • All 11 current-main and 11 external candidate checks passed at refresh, but the failed independent App check still blocks merge. The broker retains four rejections and three infrastructure failures; previous admissions remain consumed.

A narrow internal verifier-preparation repair request is queued, not repaired. Resume only after independently accepted effective repair and separately governed eligibility. No unchanged retry, candidate churn or gate bypass. Published GitHub/PyPI/MCP Registry version remains 0.4.0; the installable Python 3.15 outcome remains due October 23. The retained #34 work remains separate and will not merge ahead of this release.

The scheduled recovery of the unchanged 0.5.0 candidate completed at 2026-10-21 02:23 UTC with an infrastructure failure, not product acceptance.

  • Exact head 59aab88a640bdf995e358431698f7781a6571252, current main/base e4f8b717d8b0c14c68fd3069efc64330985ab0e1, tree a342227ddadd66a7c4b177d22440aa933103d9a5.
  • After the independently accepted changelog-preparation repair and separately governed admission, new review 710c7a33-b359-427d-b931-3ab7eeb940b4 returned command_evidence_assembly_failed (broker exit 1). The bounded diagnostic does not establish its cause or any individual product-gate result.
  • The admission is consumed. All four rejected reviews and four infrastructure failures remain retained. One exact-incident internal maintenance request is queued for authentic command/custody diagnosis, independently verified effective repair if needed, and separately governed eligibility. Queued is not repaired; no unchanged retry or hosted continuation follows this failed local review.
  • All 11 current-main and 11 external candidate checks pass, with no unresolved review threads. The separate verifier App check remains failed. No merge or 0.5.0 publication occurred. GitHub, PyPI and MCP Registry still report 0.4.0.

Next existing full-budget cycle: 04:17 UTC, consuming actual recovery evidence before any eligible review. Exact-head/current-main independent acceptance, full official-index/frozen-regression/real-3.15 offline/installed-wheel gates, matched merge, resulting-main CI and immutable distribution proofs remain required. The October 23 installable-3.15 target is unchanged. Retained #34 remains separate, blocked on its existing receipt/admission repair; no additional implementation is being accumulated.
