Records two Python behaviour changes in sdk-feature-matrix.md, each cited to the release that carries it and checked against the published wheel.

Wheel runs: cachekit==0.24.0 stores be40b83ab2f49763-default:inv-42 for __main__.fetch (blake3 of __main__.fetch, first 16 hex, is be40b83ab2f49763); cachekit==0.23.0 and 0.24.0 with nothing configured run a bare @cache function once in 20 calls (misses=1, l1_hits=19); 0.22.0 runs it 20 times.

Checked locally: tools/conformance.py check --base origin/main, tools/check-version-floors.py, tools/check-spec-duplication.py and tools/test_changelog_collect.py all pass.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Clarified how Python caller-supplied cache keys vary between versions.
    • Documented that Python 0.23.0 and later use local-only caching for plaintext decorators when no backend is configured; encrypted and interoperability decorators continue to fall back to localhost Redis.
    • Noted that Rust and TypeScript still require a backend.

Walkthrough

The feature matrix and changelog now document Python key shapes by version and backend-selection behaviour when no backend selector is configured.

Layer / File(s) Summary
Document Python key and backend behaviour
sdk-feature-matrix.md, changelog.d/20261019_lab-10009.md
The documentation distinguishes Python key shapes before and from cachekit 0.24.0. It also records the no-selector behaviour from 0.23.0 for plaintext, non-interop decorators, and the fallback retained for encrypted and interop= decorators.

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 4f1db

Upgrading to Python cachekit 0.24.0 can cause existing custom-key entries to be recomputed. The changelog does not yet mention this temporary cold-cache effect, leaving a small, localized documentation risk.
