Summary
The table of contents now uses one shared markup across themes. It exposes stable
data-layout-itemhooks, depth and active-state attributes, and per-theme variant attributes. Its built-in styles sit in a cascade layer, so unlayered custom CSS overrides them.Changes
reference/customization/selectors.md: added a "Table of contents" section. It covers thetoc-*data-layout-itemparts, 0-baseddata-depth,data-activeon items and links,aria-current="location"on the active link, the rootdata-shell/data-marker/data-lookvalues, and the cascade-layer override behavior..toc-item[data-active]and.toc-item[data-active-deepest]rows are still accurate, so I left them unchanged.Validation
git diff --checkpassed.npm test, npm run check, andnpm run buildcould not run because theajvdev dependency isn't installed. This also fails onmain. The existing sync workflow distributes the canonical skill after merge.

data-layout-itemTOC hooks should be treated as stable public hooks.Note

Documentation-only change to agent skill reference; no runtime or product code affected.
Overview
Documents the unified table of contents customization surface in the Mintlify agent skill reference (
selectors.md).Adds a Table of contents section describing stable
[data-layout-item="toc-*"]parts on#table-of-contents, including depth viatoc-item[data-depth], active/ancestor styling viadata-activeandaria-current="location", and per-theme root attributes (data-shell,data-marker,data-look). It also notes that built-in TOC CSS lives in a cascade layer with:where(), so custom unlayered CSS can override defaults. Existing.toc-item[data-active]state-attribute rows are unchanged.Reviewed by Cursor Bugbot for commit f2c4c9e. Bugbot is set up for automated code reviews on this repo. Configure here.
