+## Generative AI Policy
+
+`python-json-logger` is a well trusted and popular package. The continued quality, stability, and stewardship of the package is a responsibility that the maintainers take seriously.
+
+Low effort submissions actively work against the maintainers. Every issue and pull request is considered and reviewed by the maintainers, taking a non-trivial amount of time and effort.

+The use of AI tools is allowed with the following conditions:
+
+**Human Supervision and Responsibility**: AI tools must be under supervision of a real human who takes legal and technical responsibility for all contributions made.

+This means no fully autonomous systems.
+
+**Quality**: Ensure that your submission is actually valuable to the project and meets quality expectations. If you cannot explain and defend the changes you submit, do not submit them.

+**Human Communication**: Interactions with the maintainers must be by humans. [Don't be a meat-proxy](https://gruhn.me/blog/2026-08-03/).
