Resolves #964

Summary

The settings UI previously saved sublime, but the Sublime Text CLI is subl. This caused launch-editor to try to spawn a command that was not on PATH.

New selections now save subl. When opening a file, a previously saved sublime value is translated to subl so existing selections continue to work.

Verification

  • pnpm lint
  • pnpm typecheck
  • pnpm exec vitest run packages/devtools/test/open-in-editor.test.ts packages/devtools/test/default-tab-options.test.ts (10 tests)

The launcher tests verify that both subl and the saved sublime value are passed to launchEditor as subl.

📝 Walkthrough

The Sublime Text setting now uses subl. A shared resolver maps sublime to subl, resolves unset and auto values to undefined, and preserves other editor commands. The behavior options read and openInEditor both use this resolver. Tests cover the resolver’s mappings and pass-through behavior.

The Sublime Text fix works as intended. Some rare timing cases in how editor settings are cached could briefly show stale settings or fail during a settings reset. These are worth tightening, but they are bounded and not likely to block merge.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

Issue [#964] requires Sublime Text file opening through the available subl command. The settings UI now stores subl for new selections. resolveEditorCommand maps legacy sublime to subl and preserves other editor values. ensureOptions applies the mapping when options load. openInEditor applies it before launchEditor. The unit tests cover the legacy alias and the launcher call. No unmet coding requirement is identified.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The PR changes skills-lock.json by updating the computedHash for the vue-best-practices entry. This change has no demonstrated connection to issue [#964], the editor selection, option loading, or the launch path. The supplied change summary identifies this as a separate hash-only change.

Resolution

Revert the unrelated vue-best-practices computedHash change in skills-lock.json, or move it to a separate change with its own documented reason.

Test the command passed to launchEditor.

The existing openInEditor tests use a hook that returns true, so openInEditor exits before calling launchEditor. The resolver assertions do not detect a regression in the launcher call. Add a test with a hook that does not handle the file, arrange the legacy sublime setting, mock devframe/utils/launch-editor, and assert that launchEditor receives subl.

🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Restrict alias lookup to own properties.

For openInEditor: "valueOf", resolveEditorCommand returns Object.prototype.valueOf instead of the string. launchEditor treats function values as its error callback and then auto-detects the editor. If no editor is detected, invoking Object.prototype.valueOf as that callback throws, so openInEditor catches the error and returns false. The base passed the literal "valueOf" and did not enter this callback branch.

packages/devtools/src/server-rpc/general.ts:211-212
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Await the behavior options before launching the editor.

The startup read from useDevToolsOptions('behavior') is not awaited. client.call sends independent RPC requests, so an early openInEditor request can reach the handler while readLocalOptions(...) is pending. The synchronous getter then returns the default editor value, and the configured editor may be replaced by environment-based fallback detection.

`openInEditor` read the synchronous options cache while the startup `getOptions('behavior')` request could still be loading local settings.
During that window it saw the default editor and fell back to
auto-detection.

Expose `ensureOptions()` so server code can await the read-once disk load, and use it before resolving the editor command. Clear the read-once cache when local options are reset so the next read reloads from disk.

Keep option reads and writes bound to their Nuxt instance so an older RPC cannot use another project's settings. Reload saved options when an RPC is recreated, and normalize legacy editor aliases in the options layer.

Add regression tests for cross-root access and RPC recreation.
Restore the existing options behavior and remove the unrelated cache and concurrency changes. Keep `subl` for new selections, translate saved `sublime` values at launch, and test both paths.
