Vouch Request: investigate logger.trace output (#1156) #4990

Why do you want to contribute?

I'd like to investigate #1156, where logger.trace return values don't appear in the span output. The current core logger still forwards the callback without recording its result. I'd start by checking the exported span and dashboard path, then add a regression test and a small fix if the issue is still present. Could you vouch for me to contribute?
