Cloudflare Workers Builds fails at "Installing dependencies" before any of our commands run. It finds the root .tool-versions (erlang, elixir) and tries to install those tools, which its build image can't do. SKIP_DEPENDENCY_INSTALL doesn't skip that step. The same commands succeed on a clean clone of main.

This deploys from GitHub Actions instead:

  • .github/workflows/site.yml sets up Node 24 and pnpm 10, then runs pnpm install --frozen-lockfile and pnpm run build in site/.
    • On main it then runs wrangler deploy. Run workflow triggers it by hand.
    • PRs only build, so a broken site fails the PR.
    • It runs when site/ changes, and when the files the site reads change: package docs and changelogs, mix.exs, shared.exs and durable/lib/.
  • site/wrangler.jsonc sets account_id, so the token doesn't need to list accounts and local deploys don't ask which account to use.

Before merging

  1. Create an API token from the Edit Cloudflare Workers template for the WaveZync account and the wavezync.com zone.
  2. Add it as the CLOUDFLARE_API_TOKEN repository secret.
  3. Disconnect the Git integration in the durable Worker's settings, so the failing Workers Builds stop.

Cloudflare Workers Builds fails before running any command: its build image
tries to install everything in the root .tool-versions (Erlang, Elixir) and
can't. Build the site with Node and pnpm in Actions instead, and deploy main
with wrangler. PRs that touch the site or the docs it reads get a build.
