📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughDiscrete brush selection drags now preserve their pixel width when they snap to axis values. Preview and commit use the same gesture-aware conversion. Tests cover edge drags, uneven axes, and changes to available values during a drag. ChangesBrush selection span
Priority: ⬇️ Low Estimated code review effort: 2 (Simple) | ~12 minutes Change: Bug fix · Severity of issue fixed: Low Suggested reviewers: Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to Dragging a brushX selection now keeps its span on evenly spaced values. On unevenly spaced values, however, the selection can grow to include more values while dragging. - Around line 665-668: Update the drag conversion around startIndex and endIndex
to handle origin endpoints missing from the current axis: cancel or rebase the
gesture when the axis changes, or use the existing snapped conversion when an
origin endpoint is absent, so committing an unchanged preview preserves its
range.
- Around line 669-674: Update the whole-range shift calculation using the
pointer displacement and candidate positions for both endpoints, rather than
choosing solely by the magnitude of startShift or endShift. Preserve the
existing edge clamp, and add an unevenly spaced axis test verifying that a small
rightward drag does not move the range start across a large gap.

Dragging a brushX selection that snaps to explicit values snapped each edge to its nearest value separately. When D3 stopped the selection at the plot edge, half a step past the first or last value, the opposite edge landed exactly between two values and the range lost a value. Instead, snap the edge leading the drag, judged from where the drag started, and snap the other edge at the selection's width from it. On evenly spaced values that keeps the number of selected values; on unevenly spaced values it keeps the selection's width on screen. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

- Line 674: Update the brush translation logic around axis.valueAt to preserve
the initial endpoint index distance on uneven axes: record that distance, move
both endpoint indices together, and clamp the translated indices to the brush
extent. Do not derive the new start from pixel width.
