feat(accessibility): list web Accessibility reports, scans and builds as capabilities - #524
Asked for "the last 3 Workflow Analyzer reports Priya ran", an agent had nothing to list web Accessibility reports with. It handed the question to askBrowserStackAI, which is alpha and refused for most accounts (144 of about 205 calls in two weeks were refusals), and even when it answered, the report ids weren't guaranteed. The public API has these lists. App Accessibility's were published as capabilities in #506; the web ones were not.
What
capability/web_accessibility.capability-index.json: six read capabilities, reached through searchCapability / invokeCapability. Each one's guidance says which field feeds fetchAccessibilityIssues.
Capability
Lists
Id for fetchAccessibilityIssues
list_workflow_analyzer_reports
Workflow Analyzer reports, newest first
id → workflowReportId
list_website_scanner_scans
Website Scanner scans, most recently run first
id → scanId, lastScanDetails.scanRunId → scanRunId; scanUrl is the dashboard link
list_website_scanner_scan_runs
One scan's runs, newest first
id → scanRunId
list_automated_tests_projects
Automated Tests projects
(project name narrows builds)
list_automated_tests_builds
Automated Tests builds, newest first, optionally one project's
id → buildId
list_assisted_test_reports
Assisted Test reports, newest first
not readable by the tool; guidance says so
Finding one person's reports: no list filters by person. Every row carries createdBy, and the guidance says to read pages in order and keep that person's rows.
Registry: completed reads these lists' paging.invokeCapability's completed only recognised a top-level info.next. These lists page under data.pagination (hasNext on some, has_next on others), so their first page was reported as the whole answer. resolve.ts now reads both.
Routing:
fetchAccessibilityIssues and its id arguments point at these lists instead of Ask AI.
App Accessibility's summary no longer names Website Scanner. A summary can make its product claim a term, so App was claiming website questions.
"Workflow Analyzer reports" on its own now asks whether the user means web or app, since both products have them. "web Workflow Analyzer reports", "website scanner scans" and "automated tests project" go straight to web; "app accessibility" questions stay with App.
Docs:docs/TOOLS.md lists the six capabilities.
Where the API differs from its public docs
Authored from the controllers and checked live. These traps are in the guidance and parameter text:
Scan list filters:current_user_id, team, page and page_size are not read; every scan in the account comes back. createdBy is {id, name}, not an integer. The link field is scanUrl, not scan_url. Paging is data.pagination.hasNext / nextPage.
Scan list ordering: pages run from the most recently scanned, but rows within a page are sorted by scan id.
Scan list page size: above limit 25 a page still holds 25 scans, but the next-page token assumes the larger size, so the scans in between are skipped. The parameter is capped at 25.
Workflow Analyzer and Assisted Test limit=100: returns 30 rows and hasNext: false, which ends paging early; 99 works. Capped at 99. The next-page token carries only the page number, so the same limit must be sent each time.
Workflow Analyzer report shape: settings sit under scanSettings, with wcagVersion as {label, value}, not flat as the docs show.
Automated Tests builds filter:
only project_name is read; the documented projectId (and projectName, project_id) is ignored and every project's builds come back;
project_name matches the whole name in any letter case, and part of a name matches nothing;
no match answers 200 with data: null and info: ["No Projects found"].
Scan runs: ordered by scanDate, which can differ from id order. An unknown scan answers 404 "Scan builds not found".
Verified
npm run build: lint, prettier, 1611 tests, tsc. scripts/check-contract.py is clean on the new index.
Live, against production, through the built server's invokeCapability:
all six lists return what the index declares, with completed: false while there are more pages;
second pages via next_page return the next rows;
the 99 and 25 caps are refused before any request;
a project_name filter returns one project's builds, with 40-character ids;
a project_name that matches nothing returns info: ["No Projects found"];
an unknown scan returns 404.
searchCapability returns the right capability first for "web Workflow Analyzer reports by a person", "list my website scanner scans" and "builds of my automated tests project".
Added web accessibility capability listings for Workflow Analyzer reports, Website Scanner scans and runs, Automated Tests projects and builds, and Assisted Test reports.
Listings include details to help locate related reports and results, with support for navigating paginated results.
Updates
Clarified that website accessibility is covered separately from App Accessibility.
Updated guidance for finding accessibility scan IDs and past reports.
… as capabilities
An agent asked for "the last 3 reports Priya ran" had no list of web
Accessibility reports to read, so it handed the question to Ask AI (alpha,
refused for most accounts) or gave up. The public API has the lists; this
publishes them through the capability registry, like App Accessibility's.
- capability/web_accessibility.capability-index.json: six read capabilities,
each naming the id fetchAccessibilityIssues reads:
list_workflow_analyzer_reports (id = workflowReportId),
list_website_scanner_scans (id = scanId, lastScanDetails.scanRunId),
list_website_scanner_scan_runs (id = scanRunId),
list_automated_tests_projects, list_automated_tests_builds
(id = buildId; project_name filter), list_assisted_test_reports.
Authored from the controllers and checked live; the traps the docs leave
out are in each capability's guidance and parameter text.
- invoke's `completed` also reads data.pagination.hasNext / has_next, so a
first page of these lists is no longer reported as the whole answer.
- fetchAccessibilityIssues points at these lists for ids instead of Ask AI.
- App Accessibility's summary no longer names Website Scanner, which made it
claim website questions; "Workflow Analyzer reports" alone now asks web or
app, as both products have them.

Walkthrough
The change adds Web Accessibility listing capabilities and metadata, expands pagination detection for nested response envelopes, and updates accessibility ID lookup guidance, tool documentation, and routing tests.
Changes: Web Accessibility Listings
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Listing contract and metadata capability/web_accessibility.capability-index.json, tests/tools/capabilityWebAccessibility.test.ts
The capability index defines list operations, entity relationships, response schemas, and error metadata. Tests check capability names, pagination metadata, query parameters, page-size limits, and issue-reader guidance.
hasNextPage now recognizes data.pagination.hasNext and has_next when strictly true. Tests cover these fields and completion cases.
ID lookup and routing guidance capability/app_accessibility.capability-index.json, docs/TOOLS.md, src/tools/accessibility.ts, src/tools/tool-handoff.ts, tests/tools/askBrowserstackE2E.test.ts, tests/tools/capabilityAppAccessibility.test.ts, tests/tools/capabilityWebAccessibility.test.ts
Accessibility ID descriptions and handoff text point to capability listings. The tools reference adds six listing entries, and tests cover product routing and handoff wording.
browserstack/mcp-server#504: Adds App Accessibility build and manual-report support to fetchAccessibilityIssues; this change also updates App Accessibility routing and ID lookup guidance.
browserstack/mcp-server#502: Adds Automate build and session links as reportUrl inputs to fetchAccessibilityIssues; this change updates related ID guidance and documents Automated Tests build listings.
Paging error guidance may mislead users of two report listings when they change the page limit. The fix is small, and the remaining risk is bounded.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to 592f5
The new operations are read-only and use existing authentication and request controls. They make account-level report metadata easier to discover, including records belonging to multiple creators. No new authorization bypass was identified, but live account and team permission enforcement was not independently verified.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The added agent-facing exposure is enumeration of Web Accessibility metadata and identifiers available to the configured credentials, potentially across creators within an account. Those identifiers facilitate subsequent issue-reading calls. Repository evidence does not establish live cross-account or team-level authorization behavior.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — The new listings use named, indexed GET endpoints. Caller-supplied arguments do not select an arbitrary HTTP method or destination. The existing method/path fallback also requires an exact registered endpoint rather than permitting unrestricted requests.
observed — The product declares Basic authentication and an HTTPS API base URL. Existing transport controls attach credentials in headers, reject non-TLS destinations except local development hosts, and do not automatically follow redirects. Operator-configured base URL overrides remain a pre-existing trust assumption.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
inferred — The new operations are reads and pagination remains caller-managed. The changed completion calculation introduces no shared mutable transition, automatic page-walking loop, or new cleanup obligation. Repetition or interruption of these listing calls therefore does not introduce a persistent-state recovery requirement in the reviewed code.

The comment's specific collision is not present. The only App Accessibility aliases in the inspected index are "app accessibility", "app accessibility project", "app accessibility build", "app automate accessibility build", and "app live report". None of them is "mobile app" or "web app", so the example query would not make app_accessibility a claimant. The web summary's only App-related phrase is "Mobile apps are covered by a separate product", and no App Accessibility alias matches it.
The comment also relies on ambiguousProducts matching any phrase in a product summary. I did not inspect that function, and the other premises (the App Accessibility test coverage and the earlier "Website Scanner" removal) are also unverified. Without the matching logic, I cannot establish a general summary-collision defect. The shell search covered only aliases that start with the listed prefixes, so it does not rule out other App Accessibility terms that could appear in the summary.
…e Scanner lists
Review on #524: the shared InvalidPageToken (422) description said next_page is
refused when limit changed between pages, for all six lists. Checked against the
handlers: the Website Scanner lists answer a changed limit with 422, the
Automated Tests lists answer it with 400 (PagingChanged, already declared), and
the Workflow Analyzer and Assisted Test lists do not check it, so their pages
shift. The description now scopes the limit clause to the Website Scanner lists.
